Why are student athletic tickets being sold this year? Student tickets
are being sold to offset a significant reduction in the student
incidental fee subsidy of the UO athletic department. Last year,
students paid $17 each term to support athletics. This year, students
will pay only $12 each term.
The reduction in subsidy will be made up by ticket sales to students
interested in Oregon athletics. The reduced subsidy and the
ticket-sale plan was negotiated by the ASUO and the university
administration in response to a student concern that larger, direct
subsidies discriminate against students who do not wish to attend
athletic events. For more information, call the ASUO at 686-3724
