registration schedule to alcohol abuse is as easy
as a phone can, thanks to the TEL-INFO program
TEL-INFO a taped telephone service availa
ble to students and community members, informs
callers about the University and many of its
programs
By dialing 686-4636 or 686-INFO, callers can
request tapes on more than 150 topics, including
admissions, recreation and entertainment, hous
ing. student organizations and educational re
sources and programs
Career Planning and Placement — which
provides job listing information — and the
Calendar of Events are two of the most popular
tapes
A service provided by the Dean of Students
Office. TEL-INFO was started in March of 1979
under the direction of Hilda Young, coordinator of
special projects
The program began with 75 different tapes,
but after 2'h years the number of tapes has
doubted — and the service continues to grow
New tape topics will include the map room, the
math library and the psychology clinic
Serving an average of 50 callers a day.
TEL-INFO has provided information to more than
35.000 callers, some from as far away as Florida
and Alaska
Listings of the TEL-INFO tapes can be found
in the time schedule of classes, the faculty and
staff directory and the student directory
Brochures listing the names and numbers of
the tapes are available at Oregon Hail and the
EMU Student Information Booth A recorded
index also is available by calling the service and
requesting tape 100
The TEL-INFO phones which are manned by
EMU Main Desk employees are in service from 9
am to 11 pm Monday through Saturday and
from 1 p m to 11 p m Sundays
