Old Oregon honored
The University's quarterly magazine for alumni and its radio
news service have received Exceptional Achievement Awards in
the 1981 Council for Advancement and Support of Education
national competition
Old Oregon, edited by Barbara Edwards, was judged on
content, quality of writing, design, and effectiveness with more than
100 other magazines from universities including Harvard. Brown
and MIT The 78-year-old publication is sent to 60.000 alumni and
friends throughout Oregon, in all 50 states and around the world
Old Oregon has won awards for the past four years under
Edward's direction The magazine was in the top 30 in 1978. the top
10 in 1979 and won a special merit award in 1980
The radio news service, under the direction of broadcast and
promotion manager Mike Moskovitz, was ranked among the top five
entries in the national competition
The radio service, a part of the News Bureau, was judged along
with 40 other university entries nationwide on credibility, informa
tive value and absence of self-servicing interests The program
serves the more than 100 radio stations throughout the state
