The schools established the
consortium in 1979 when they
discovered all six were begin
ning to ask faculty teaching
liberal arts courses such as
political science and biology to
teach writing in those courses
as well
The grant will help the
schools expand their efforts to
integrate writing instruction into
existing liberal arts courses in
both the humanities and the
sciences, according to Kimball
To prepare faculty members
for this new role in teaching
writing, the schools will hold
faculty and curriculum develop
ment workshops and exchange
curriculum materials Consulta
tions between the schools, a
newsletter and an annual
regional conference are also
planned
Druids add
15 members
Fifteen University students
have been selected for active
membership in the Ancient
Order of Druids, a service honor
society for juniors
The new members, initiated at
the end of spring term, were
chosen for their character,
scholarship leadership, service
and participation in campus ac
tivities
