Fair features crafts, music
A treat is in store for lovers of
open-air-markets at the Oregon
Country Fair, to be held this
Friday, Saturday and Sunday in
Elmira, 13 miles west of Eugene
Originally dubbed the Ren
aissance Fair, the Oregon
Country Fair still features some
medieval costumes and enter
tainment The focus of the fair,
however, is handmade arts and
crafts, with more than 300
booths offering a wide variety of
crafts and foods

the downtown mall, with buses
leaving every half hour on

last bus will leave the fair at 7
pm

The play opens tonight
'Little Foxes’
opens tonight
The Little Foxes a 1939 drama written by
Lillian Heilman about a woman striving to domin
ate her scheming family will open tonight at the
University's Carnival Theatre
Directed by University Prot Faber DeChaine
“The Little Foxes" will run tonight through Sun
day and July 24 July 30, Aug 8 and Aug 14 at the
Robinson Theatre in Villard Hall Curtain time is 8
p m for all performances
The play features Priscilla Laurts as Regina
Giddens who, with her brothers, owns most of a
small turn-of-the-century town in the South Her
pfcm for complete domination of the town is
blocked by her ailing husband Horace (George
Lauris)
"This play, like all great plays, has universal
meaning.” DeChaine says "Although set in the
antebellum South it's clearly a powerful obser
vation of American life — both then and now
The play deals with characters planning and
scheming as they attempt to "survive and come to
the power and position the American dream has
promised ," DeChaine says
Other Carnival Theatre productions this
summer include Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin
and Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and
Robert E Lee A special children's puppet show
the classic The Wizard Ot Oz also will be per
formed
Reserved-seat tickets for all Carnival Theatre
plays are $4 50 for Fridays and Saturdays, and $3
