Frisbee event
battles cancer
Frisbee fanatics can show off their
abilities and help battle cancer at the
same time during the July 4 Flying Disk
Fair, on the University campus
To help raise money for cancer re
search, the American Cancer Society is
sponsoring three Frisbee contests and
providing prizes for the winners of each
event
In addition to contest prizes a grand
prize — a pair of 1981 season tickets to
the Eugene Emeralds home baseball
games — will go to the entrant who
gathers the most contributions
The three scheduled contests will
judge distance, accuracy and duration
In the distance competition entrants
will be allowed three throws — judges will
count only the longest throw Accuracy
competitors will be aiming for a target
with a three-ring bull’s-eye Judges will
determine the winner based on the ac
cumulated scores
The winners of the last contest, the
marathon, will be the two entrants who
catch the Frisbee the most consecutive
times from 15 yards apart
Prizes will be awarded to the top three
scorers in each contest in four age
categories: ages 4 to 7; ages 8 to 13;
ages 14 to 18, and ages 19 and up
Entry forms for the competition are
available from KUGN’s offices, the
American Cancer Society office at 1625
Oak St., area sports shops and other
local merchants
Entry forms also can be picked up the
day of the event The contests start at 1
p m at Hayward Field
