tion, owners of Campbell Club, will
open a second cooperative house in
time to accommodate University sum
mer session students
The SCA purchased a $175,000
house at 1790 Alder St., June 5 — about
one block from Campbell Club
Several loans and grants will be used
to pay for the house, according to
Campbell Club Pres Monica Harring
ton
A major part of the financing came
from the National Consumer Coopera
tive Bank Also, the West University
Neighbors^Neighborhood Advisory
Group has approved $12,500 to
$25,000 in Community Development
Funds to help the association purchase
the house, Harrington says
The house, which can accommodate
31 students, will be available tor re
sidence summer session
The cost for meals and a single room
is $400 for the eight-week summer ses
sion and $510 for the 11-week session
The cost tor meals and a double room is
$325 tor eight weeks and $405 tor 11
weeks
Rooms will tee available between
summer session and fall term at $15 per
week
The house is open to anyone
Campbell Club was founded in 1935
and named for Wallace Campbell, one
of the founders of CARE who studied
cooperatives of the Depression era for
a master's thesis at the University
