The Institute of International Education
announced that they have begun accepting
applications for grants for graduate study
and or research abroad and for professional
training in the creative and performing arts
It is expected that approximaxely 516
awards for 50 countries will be avialable for
the 1982-83 academic year.
Applicants must be U S. citizens at the
time of application, must hold a bachelor's
degree or equivalent by the time the grant
begins, and should be proficient in the
language of the host country. Except for
certain awards, candidates may not hold a
Ph D. at the time of application. Candidates
for 1982-83 are ineligible for a grant to a
country if they have been doing graduate
work or conducting research in that country
for six months or more in 1981-82.
Creative and performing artists are not
required to have a bachelor's degree, but
they must have four years of professional
study or equivalent experience. Social work
applicants must have at least two years of
professional efperience after the Master of
Social Work degree, candidates in medicine
must have an M.D.
