    Nature photographer
talks about Himilayas
Today's Earthweek activities
feature wilderness photography
and a major clean-up of the
Millrace.
Wilderness photographer and
mountaineer Galen Rowell will
present a slide show on "Skiing
the Karakoram Himilayas" at
7:30 p.m. in the EMU Ballroom.
Rowell, whose photographs
are known to readers of
National Geographic, National
Wildlife and Sports Illustrated,
recently returned from the
highest ski-tour in history, 285
miles across the Karakoram
Range of the Himilayas.
The dual-screen show ties
together the history, wildlife,
cultures and Rowell's past
travels in the range, including
an attempt on the world’s
second highest mountain, K2,
and the first ascent of the Great
Trango Tower.
Rowell, a free-lance pho
tojournalist since 1972, also is
conducting a workshop on out
door photography at 2:30 p.m.
in the EMU Forum Room.
Beginners and experienced
photographers can learn from
his discussion of techniques
and equipment.
Also today, University Greeks
and other community volun
teers will be cleaning the
Millrace from noon until dark.
For more information, contact
the Survival Center at 686-4356.

Let your feet make
aplace for themselves.
I
Feet in the sand make footprints.
Feet in Birkenstock footwear do the very same thirty.
The Birkenstock foot bed is heat and pressure sensitive, to mold
to your foot, and become your footprint.
So walking in Birkenstock is a lot
like walking barefoot in the sand,
with one very convenient difference.
You can walk in Birkenstock all year long.
