    University, Germany exchange profs

will teach at the University during spring term and
two University professors will teach in German
universities in early summer through an exchange
program between the state of Oregon and the
German state of Baden Wurtemberg.
The exchange of American literature profes
sors is the first trade of faculty members under the
decade-old program. Previously, only students
and resident directors have participated in the
exchange.
Alfred Weber of the University of Tubingen in
southern Germany, will teach a seminar on Nath
aniel Hawthorne in the English department and a
course on the poetics of the short story in the
Honors College.
If
George wicKes, neaa or tne tnglisn depart
ment, will teach seminars on William Faulkner,
Ernest Hemingway and contemporary American
narrative at the University of Tubingen. Louise
Westling, visiting assistant professor in the
Honors College, will teach seminars on women
writers from the American South, including Maya
Angelou, at Tubingen and the University of Stutt
gart.
German Prof. Edward Diller currently is the
director of the Oregon Study Center at Stuttgart.
In a separate program, Germanic Languages
Prof. Wolfgang Leppmann will teach courses in
contemporary German history and literature dur
ing the 1982 winter term at a study site in Cologne,
West Germany.
