Utah.
Women set school
record against Utah
Oregon’s women’s gymnastics team
set a scoring record in a losing cause
Saturday as the Ducks dropped a
148.65-140.10 decision to number-one
ranked University of Utah.
The old mark was 139.85, set last year
against Oregon State.
In the other half of the coed meet, the
men’s team tied its season-high total of
276.75 as it buried Portland State, which
earned 223.85 points.
Sara Gustafson was the top performer
for the Duck women, scoring 35.6 in the
all-around to finish in a tie for fifth with
Utah’s Andra Turner. Gustafson also
took fourth in the floor exercise (9.25)
and tied for sixth in the beam and vault.
In the men’s competition, Alex
Schwartz and Tim Darling each set
school records in individual events.
Schwartz was awarded a 9.85 in the rings
to set an Oregon record.
Darling’s 9.65 on the parallel bars
broke the 9.55 mark set by Miki Moyal in
19 0.
I ally Crumley led Oregon’s domina
tioi. of the Vikings with wins in the pom
mel horse (9.25), high bar (9.65) and
all-around (55.45). Oregon performers
won every event, while the highest finish
for a Viking was fourth.

Bartlett ends
tennis tourney
as co-champ
With the weather forcing the
tournament to be rained out in
its final day, Oregon freshman
Lindsay Bartlett ended up as
co-champion in the Sacremento
State women’s tennis invita
tional.
Bartlett, who defeated top
seeded Carol Boweres of Santa
Clara, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3, to advance
to the finals, would have faced
Julie Rose of San Jose State
Sunday, if the weather had
cooperated.
