An expert in the study of
Chinese jade will speak on
"Imitiation, Invention and Na
ture in Archaic Chinese Jade”
tonight at 7:30 pm. in Room 107
Lawrence Hall.
William Trousdale’s slide
show presentation will concern
jade carving dated to the
second century B.C. Among the
topics he is expected to discuss
are the sources of jade motifs
and their basis in nature.
Trousdale, an anthropologist
at the Smithsonian Institution, is
a graduate of the University of
Michigan. He previously lec
tured at the University several
times during the 1970s as a vis
iting Maude Kerns distin
guished professor of Oriental
art.
