Speakers win tourneys
The University speech team
took team sweepstakes awards
at two west coast tournaments.
At the Willamette University In
vitational Tournament Feb. 6
and 7, the team won the grand
sweepstakes trophy against 15
teams.
Last weekend the team won
the senior sweepstakes award
at the Western States Speech
Conference in San Jose, Calif.
The team had more than twice
the number of sweepstakes
points than the second place
team.
GTF David Frank won the
outstanding debut paper at the
Western Speech Conference.
The title of his presentation was
“Shalom Achshav — The Rituals
of the Israeli Peace Movement.”
His win marked the second
straight year a University GTF
has won this award.
