College Bowl
comes back in
residence halls
College Bowl, a team
tournament of academic
excellence based on the
popular television show of the
1950s and '60s, is being revived
by students in University
residence halls.
Teams representing 52 living
groups began preliminary
competitions Feb. 2. A final
team championship round is set
for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in
the EMU Forum Room.
Five teams, one each from the
University Inn, Walton, Bean,
Carson and Hamilton residence
halls, will compete in the finals.
University faculty members
have served both as moderators
and as judges during the
competition.

Prize-winner will speak
A Pulitzer-prize winning author who holds master’s and doctoral
degrees from the University will speak on "Magic Cubes” Monday at
4:30 p.m. in 150 Geology.
Douglas Hofstadter, author of “Goedel, Escher and Bach: An
Eternal Golden Braid,” will tailor his speech to the general public and
scientists, according to physics Prof. Rudolph Hwa, who is
arranging Hofstadter’s campus appearance.
