    Gymnasts host three events
Coming off a tough loss to UCLA last week
end, Oregon's men’s gymnastics team takes to
the floor today in an 8 p.m. meet against the
University of British Columbia at McArthur Court.
The women’s gymnastics team will host
17th-ranked University of Minnesota in tonight’s
coed matchup.
Oregon’s gymnastics team will be in action
again Saturday at 7 p.m., as the men’s and
women’s teams join members of the Eugene
Academy of Artistic Gymnasts for a "Night of the
Stars.” The night will be a gymnastics exhibition
rather than a meet.
"It should be a fun show," says men’s coach
Bill Ballester. “It.is an opportunity for people to
learn about gymnastics. We will talk about gym
nastics, the training gymnasts go through, and
the final product.”
The meet against British Columbia should be
little more than a tuneup for the Ducks as UBC is
not known for gymnastics prowess, Ballester
says. "We’re doing it primarily because of the
women’s meet.
The Minnesota Gophers have a 6-3 dual meet
record and present an opposing foe, says
women’s coach Henriette Heiny. “This will be our
first chance to measure ourselves at home
against a nationally-ranked team."
U.S. National all-around champion Julianne
McNamara is the featured performer in Satur
day’s exhibition.
