Women hoopsters nab air time
Home games for the women’s
basketball team will be broad
cast locally by KRVM (91.9 FM)
beginning Dec. 13 when the
Ducks face Weber State in Mac
Arthur Court.
KRVM is licensed to the
Eugene School District 4-J as a
non-commercial station with all
programming done by students.
Powered by 1900 watts, the sta
tion can be heard throughout
the Eugene-Springfield area, on
the coast via cable and in Salem
at night.
The prospect of radio broad
casts is exciting, says basket
ball coach Elwin Heiny, who is
coaching his fifth women’s team
at Oregon.
“Getting this out to the public
is actually doing more for
women’s sports, because the
more we get publicized the
more of a following we’ll have.”
With five of the 10 home
games for women scheduled as
doubleheaders with the men’s

Avenging an earlier defeat,
the men’s club sport soccer
team upset second-place
University of Portland 2-1 in an
aggressive contest Saturday.
The Ducks dominated much
of the play in the Northwest
Collegiate Soccer Conference
match. The win upped the
club's record to 3-4-1 and
makes it the top team from
Oregon in the league.
After Portland missed a pen
alty kick in the first half, Oregon
grabbed control on a goal by
Bob Keedy on an assist by Paul
Bosanko.
In the second half, the Ducks
sank their winning point on a
kick from Jerry Brown from the
right wing, also assisted by Bo
sanko.
“This victory really justifies
our hard work this season,”
Brown said. “The Pilots are
athletic department organized
and recruited from England. It
shows we can compete with the
strongest teams of our league.”
The Ducks will play Oregon
State University in a final post
season match Saturday at 1
p.m. at Marist High School.

broadcasting all five games.
Two games will not be broad

high school basketball, KRVM's

game will not be aired because
the station operates Monday
through Saturday only. How
