the Old West as the Emerald
Empire Roundup begins tonight
at the Fairgrounds
The Roundup, a yearly
summer event sponsored by the
Eugene Jaycees. will feature
bull riding, steer wrestling, team
roping and saddle bronc riding
as rodeo circuit riders compete
tor rodeo glory.
The clowns and cowboys will
put on five exhibitions for the
Eugene crowd, tonight. Friday
and Saturday at 7:30 p m., and a
special matinee at 1 p m on
Friday and Saturday at the Fair
grounds Outdoor Arena
General Admission is $3 50.

One of the nation's top figures
in jazz dance will be on the
University campus in August to
teach a six-day workshop
The University dance depart
ment is currently accepting

taught by Lea Darwin, dance
coordinator for the Gus Gior
dano Dance Center in Evans
ton. IN
Registration is also open for
the dance department s Interim
Session Dance Workshop July
16 through August 3 The
three week workshop includes
six courses Each may be taken
for one credit, or for no credit
Darwin, a dance professional
for 20 years, has been associat
ed with Giordano since 1969
She teaches the Giordano
Technique, with variations of
her own
In Evanston, she teaches both
jazz and modem dance and di
rects and choreographs one of
Giordano s two resident dance
companies She spent last sum
mer teaching American jazz
dance m France and Holland
Her teaching schedule this year
includes workshops m France.
Germany. Holland Switzerland
and the United States
Her workshop at the Universi
ty is scheduled for August 6-t 1
