Changes focus of group
A new group is being formed at the University to explore the
meaning of the life transitions which occur between ages 28 and 32.
Group leader Peter Moulton says this is often a time of reconsider
ing goals and values and a time of making decisions and commit
ments. or "deciding what I'll be for the rest of my life " The result of
these transitions is often a return to school, setting aside a
professional career to raise children, to change careers or change
partners
The group plans to examine the personal, social, cultural and
mythological dimensions of these changes An increasing interest
in the stages of adult life is reflected in recent books by Erickson.
Levinson. Ruperti and Sheehy, portions of which will be discussed
Moulton is a doctoral student in counseling psychology. At 41,
he is currently in transition from a career in computer science,
having been a member of the Unversity's computer science faculty
since 1971, into counseling
The group will be limited to ten and is planned to include both
men and women An organizational meeting is scheduled for 4 pm.
today at the Counseling Center m Susan Campbell Hall. Moulton
can be reached at 484-0572 (home), at the Counseling Center.
