Faculty consider awards
Nominations for the Ersted Award for Distinguished Teaching
are being accepted in Room 103 Johnson Hall Awards with a
stipend of $1000 each are presented annually to two relatively
young members of the faculty who are selected for the quality of
their teaching
Anyone may submit nominations Selections will be an
nounced later in the quarter and presentations will be made at the
June Commencement Nominations should be addressed to
Marshall Wattles, Vice Provost, 103 Johnson Hall
Seniors highlight benefit
A benefit for the Eugene Hearing and Speech Center will be
held today at 8 p.m at the Churchill High School Auditorium at 18th
Avenue and Baily Hill Road
The program, sponsored by the Eugene Downtown Lions
Club, features the Senior Follies, a troupe from the North Bend
Coos Bay area
Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at Churchill High
School, the River Road Recreation Center. Cascade Manor or the
Eugene Hearing and Speech Center
Speakers to compete
Six members of the University s forensics team will compete in
the American Forensic Association's National Individual Events
Forensics Tournament at Iowa State University April 6-8
Students entered :n competition include Joan Larson, exposi
tory and after dinner speaking Tom Peters, extemporaneous and
impromtu speaking Scott Weber, persuasive speaking. Jocelyn
Steward, poetry interpretation. Connie Carnese, expository
speaking and Steve Bethlenfalvay
The forensics team has won top honors in tournaments
throughout the year including first place last February at the Viking
Invitational Forensics Tournament at Western Washington State
University
