EMU hosts Craft Fair
Candlemakers. leathersmiths, pottery-makers and a host of other
artisans will put their wares on display this week during the EMU Craft
Center's Craft Fair.
The exhibition begins its three-day run Wednesday from 10 a.m. to
5p.m. and continues Thursday, 10a.m. to5p.m. and Friday, 10a.m. to
4 p.m.
The fair will be held in EMU 167.
Additionally, live entertainment will be provided outside Room 167,
and EMU food service will sell all three days.
Woodwork and stain glass artists, as well as jewelry makers will
also be on hand.
U.N. class offered winter
The University political science department will offer a 400-level
class on the United Nations when classes get underway next term.
Political science graduate student Paul Johnson will teach the
course, which will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 to 2:50 p.m.
A discussion section will also be required.
Members of the class will have the option of taking part in a model
U.N. next spring in Los Angeles. At the model event, the University class
will represent the interests of Uganda, Norway and one other nation.

the U.S. flag atop the EMU flag
pole Wednesday in honor of the
country’s annual Independence
Day.
The flag is one of 22 received by
the University for use during the
1978-79 academic year in a “Flag
of Nations" project designed to
honor the home countries of
foreign students enrolled on the
campus.

Graduation set for Friday
The University's Fall Term Commencement will honor 844 degree
candidates Friday.
The commencement will start at 8 p.m. in McArthur Court and will
include remarks to the degree candidates by University Pres. William
Boyd.
Among the degree candidates are 529 for bachelor’s degrees, 229
for master’s degrees, 84 for doctoral degrees and two candidates for
law degrees.
LCC presents choir recital
The annual Lane Community College Christmas concert will be
presented in the performing arts theatre Dec. 7 at 8 p.m.
Under the direction of Wayte Kirchner, the concert choir will sing
several traditional Christmas carols and will join the baroque orchestra,
under the direction of Nathan Cammack, in a performance of the
‘Gloria’’ by Antonio Vivaldi.
The chamber choir will sing a short mass by Palestrina. Finally, the
baroque orchestra will perform the "Concerto Grosso,” by George
Frederick Handel.
There is no admission charge.
YWCA needs donations
The University YWCA is once again collecting gifts for children and
young people in the mid-Lane area. This is the YWCA's fifth annual toy
drive.
Gifts can include toys (new and used in good condition), games,
books, clothes and money with which to purchase gifts. Those willing to
donate gifts may call the YWCA office 686-4439.
Toys may be dropped off at several homes in the area or at the
YWCA, basement of the Health Center, or at 1590 E. 13th Ave. Pickup
of toys may also be arranged The YWCA has set a Dec. 14th deadline
for collection of toys. The U of O YWCA is a member of United Way of
Lane County.
