Shah support draws fire
Several local Iranian student groups will join together today for a
demonstration protesting American support for the recent establish
ment of a military government in Iran. The protest will begin at noon at
the EMU terrace and will move downtown for an afternoon rally.
The protestors will also make a stop in front of the offices of the
Eugene Register-guard to object to the ' American news media's mis
representation of the true situation in Iran.
“Iran today appears very much like Vietnam in 1964, and that
should be of grave concern to the American people, writes the Iranian
students’ Association in a sheet advertising the demonstration. “We
hope that those Americans who have gone through the Chilean and
Vietnamese experience will not let such a thing happen again. By
joining our demonstration on Friday, you can raise your voice in protest
against the U.S. government's support of the shah.
