Fifty organ crawlers visit
Beall Concert Hall will be one of the stops when a group of or
ganists making a tour of notable organs in the Northwest visit Eugene
The tour. caHed an organ crawl because people used to crawl
inside pipe organs to see how they worked, will bring about 50 organists
to the campus Monday.
Two wel-known recitalists, Margaret Irwin-Brandon and Mark
Brombaugh, will perform at 12:30 p.m. on the Jurgen Ahrend organ in
Beall hall during the visit.
From Beall hall, the organ crawl will move on to the United Luthe
ran Church, 2230 Washington St., to see and hear the organ built by
another local craftsman, Ken Coulter. The tour is being arranged as a
follow-up event for the biennial convention of the American Guild of
Organists being held in Seattle in late June.
Workshop aids seniors
Senior citizens who feel they aren’t being treated fairly when they
visit their physician wil be able to team about rights as patients, thanks
to a one-day workshop today by the Community Health and Education
Center (CHEC).
The workshop is one of several classes and workshops that are
part of the CHEC summer program. The senior citizen workshop, “How
to Survive a Visit to the Doctor's Office,” will teach seniors the key to
understanding what a trip to the physician means, the rights of senior
patients and how to get information about a medicai condition.
It will be conducted by Harry Krulewitch and Sandy Boy son, an
area physictan and a licensed practical nurse.
For more information, contact the CHEC office, 485-8445.
Local coalition will rally
A coalition of Eugene organizations will hold a rally to kick off a
campaign in support of workers at the J.P. Stevens Co. Saturday at 11
a.m. at the west end of the Eugene Downtown Mall.

boycott of Stevens products. Local labor leaders will describe the
situation at Stevens and draw the implications for Oregon industries at
the rally.
