Music grads slate spoof
Music graduate students will present their annual spoof of classical
music and the music school at the “Rites of Spring Saturday at 8 p.m. in
Beall Concert Hall.
The program will include “The Toot Suite,'' a composition for organ
by P.D.Q. Bach and “Renaissance-Baroque Belly Dance.
Tickets will be available at the door for $1. with all proceeds going to
a Music Graduate Group scholarship. The public is invited.

to show slides
Jim Newcomer, visiting assist
ant professor of political science
and columnist for the Oregonian,
will share his experiences in the
Peoples’ Republic of China today
from 2:30 to 4 in Studio B of the
Library Media Center.
Newcomer visited China last
month and will show slides and tell
stones to interested persons. His
talk is sponsored by the political
science department.
In addition to being a specialist
of international politics, New
comer has a long-standing pro
fessional interest in China. He
served as a foreign service officer
in Taiwan and has worked as a
free-lance journalist.
Annual auction
set Saturday
The annual Lane County pub
lic auction will be held Saturday at
the Lane County Fairgrounds.
All items to be sold at the auc
tion will be on display for public
inspection in Rooms 4 and 5,
Expo Hall, from 8 to 10 a m. the
day of the auction.
Auctioneer Eldon Shelley will
open the bidding U 10 a.m. in
Expo Hall and the auction will end
at 5 p.m. or when everything is
sold.

Show features MFA art
The work of University graduate students will be featured in a new
show opening Sunday at the University Museum of Art.
The 11 artists, whose works will be displayed in all the first-floor
galleries, will each receive the degree of Master of Fine Arts in June.
Their shows in the museum fulfill the final-degree requirement for an
exhibition of the terminal project.
The show runs through June 11. The public is invited to an opening
reception Sunday between 2 and 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The museum is open noon to 5 p.m. daily except Monday. There is
no admission fee.
