Advisers query students
Oregon high school and community college counselors will be
interviewing former students today in the EMU Ballroom and surround
ing area, beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Students who received invitations are asked to meet with the
counselors at specified times.
The purpose of the conference for representatives from 57 high
schools and nine community colleges is to examine the movement from
high schools or community colleges to universities and to learn techni
ques to smooth out administrations and curriculums.
Minority talk set tonight
“Invisible Peoples,’’ a series of forums on minorities in the North
west, will focus on the “non-traditional” minority —the Scandinavians,
in its fifth program, 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Eugene Public Library, 100
W. 13th Ave.
Virpi Zuck, who teaches in the German and Russian department at
the University and who is a first-generation immigrant, will speak on
“The Scandinavian Immigrant Experiencs.”
The programs are made possible in part by a grant from the Oregon
Committee for the Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment
for the Humanities.
The series is sponsored by the Ethnic Studies Program at the
College of Liberal Arts.

The selections include a "Jour
ney Through Musical History”
from the eleventh century, folk
songs by Brahms from the seven
teenth century, Niccola Porpora’s
“Psalm 90" of the eighteenth cen
tury, and “A Sentimental Journey"
through the ‘40s and finally, tunes
from the twentieth century.
The choir, in its 44th year, uses
proceeds from concerts to provide
scholarships for music students at
the University.
