Last day to file
for graduation
extended to Fri.
The list of degree candidates for
spring term graduation is being
compiled by the registrar’s office,
and the last day to file for degree
has been extended to Friday.
To qualify for degree a student
must have completed all neces
sary work and procedures by the
end of the term. All transcripts
from other schools necessary for
a degree should be sent to the
attention of Graduation, Office of
the Registrar, in order that it may
be on file by the deadline. This
includes work taken through the
Division of Continuing Education.
Any student who has applied
previously and did not receive the
degree must reapply. Likewise,
any student who does not meet
the deadlines must reapply for a
future date. The date will be en
forced because of the many oper
ations of checking, clearing and
printing that must follow the appli
cation, according to office per
sonnel.

Oakway Mall is the scene of a
festive arts and crafts show for five
days through Sunday.
The original work of 25 profes
sional artists and craftspersons
will be featured. A highlight of the
show will be their various art work
and crafts on the mall, during the
show by the artists and craftsper
sons.
Among the available objects will
be leatherwork, glass blowing, cut
coin art, batiking, woodworking
and carved candles.

Faculty recital
to be presented
Prof. James Miller of the music
school and Dorothy Bergquist will
present a faculty recital Thursday
at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall.
The program will include
duets by Purcell, Schubert and
Schumann, as well as songs by
Schubert and Charles Ives.
Miller, a tenor, has been a pro
fessor at the University for the
past 13 years. He earned his
Master’s and doctoral degrees at
the University of Michigan. His
wife, Helen, will assist the vo
calists on piano. She also studied
at Michigan.
Bergquist, a soprano, earned
her bachelor degree in voice from
Mannes College in New York City
in 1966. In recent years, she has
taught voice, and soloed for the
Eugene Symphony.
Admission to the concert is free
and the public is invited.
Business awards given
University students of the national organization for business stu
dents, Phi Beta Lambda, fared well in the Annual State Leadership
Conference held in Portland, March 30 and April 1.
Thirteen colleges and universities competed in various areas of
business evaluation.
Joe Andre, Nancy Webb and Jacque Doherty were multiple win
ners.
Phi Beta Lambda is a new organization on campus. An invitation is
extended to all students interested in business, economics, computer
science, advertising and other related fields to attend the organization’s
next meeting Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Room 232 Gilbert.
Biologist to talk on botany
“The Botany of Cook’s Voyages" will be the topic of an illustrated
lecture scheduled Thursday at 8 p.m. at the University’s Instructional
Media Center in the basement of the main library.
Speaking will be Joseph Ewan, professor emeritus of biology at
Tulane University. Ewan is a plant taxonomist, biogeographer, biog
rapher and specialist on the voyages of Capt. James Cook.
The lecture is sponsored by the University departments of biology
and geography and the Main Library. It is free and open to the public.
Women’s group to start
A Women’s Support Group sponsored by the University YWCA will
begin next Tuesday and meet for six consecutive Tuesday afternoons
from 3:30-5 p.m.
The group will be led by Marti Goodban, who says she will help
women explore themselves, establish goals and work toward putting
their lives in order in a supportive environment with trained leadership.
The cost will be $15 for YWCA members and $18 for non
members. Advanced registration is necessary. For more information,

Persons interested in running for SUAB positions are invited
to attend a meeting Thursday, 5 p.m., EMU, room to be posted.
An introduction to SUAB’s history, potential, role in the University
