Book exchange gears up
If you've had any trouble selling or buying used textbooks, you
might consider an alternative to the University Bookstore.
The Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity will sponsor a textbook
exchange the first few days of spring term. Students who want to make
use of the book referral service should start now to make the exchange
proceed smoothly.
If you want to sell a book, fill out a slip at the Information and
Grievance Center in the EMU Main Lobby, and deposit it in the box
there.
The Alpha Chi Omega will then match you up with someone who
wants your book. Member John Smith says this time they would like to
exchange 300 books for students.
Past lives’ writer’s topic
“You Have Lived Before," a free lecture by Aleuti Francesca, a
writer, poet and director of the Solar Light Retreat in Southern Oregon,
will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in Room 108-110 of the EMU.
Francesca will address the issue of reincarnation and the ways in
which the experiences of past lives affect present lives.
There will also be a workshop on “Transmutation of Conscious
ness" Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in 108 EMU. The cost of the
workshop is $25.
The workshop is designed to help people get in touch with what
prevents them from realizing their potential and experiencing fulfillment
in life.
Francesca will also be available for two-hour Past Life Regres
sions, in which she will review the past lifetimes of participants.
Consultations are not psychic reading, but are “Regression
through Reverie” sessions for a fee of $45.

Aronowitz talks
on class splits
Stanley Aronowitz of the Uni
versity of California at Irvine, will
discuss “Class Stratification in
American Society” in a sociology
colloquium, Monday at 3 p.m. in
101 EMU.
Aronowitz is sociologist and au
thor of “False Promises: The
Shaping of American Working
Class Consciousness: Food,
Shelter and the American
Dream," and numerous articles
on Politics, labor and culture.
Meeting held to
support miners
A striking coal miners support
meeting will be held Monday at 8
p.m. in the EMU, room to be
posted.
Discussions on the role of the
government in strikes; history and
uses of the Taft-Hartley Act; con
ditions in the mines; issues in the
strike; and struggles of the Coal
Miner’s Union will accompany
songs of the labor movement and
the coal miners.
