Forum to host workshop
The Community Forum series will host the second in a series of
workshops on community self-reliance and its alternatives for local
economic development.
Community Development Corporations and Appropriate Technol
ogy will be the topic of Thursday s 7:30 p.m. session at Francis Willard
Community School, 2855 Lincoln St.
Members of this forum include Michael Gravino of Garbagio’s
Recycling Cooperative: Dan Goldrich, University political science pro
fessor; Sam Sadler of the Lane County Office of Appropriate Technol
ogy, and Martha Filer of Whiteaker Community Council.
Civil engineer to speak
An energy conservation spec
ialist will talk on architectural
contribution to government policy
today at the University.
Bruce Baccei, a 1974 University
graduate, will present the talk at
7:30 p.m. in Room 177, Lawrence
Hall.
His talk is sponsored by the
University Department of Ar
chitecture and will be open free to
the public.
Yoga monk talks
on meditation
An informal talk on yoga medita
tion as a method of inner growth
will be given tonight at 7:30 in the
EMU, room to be posted. The talk
will be given by Dadaji Sarit
Kumar, a yoga monk from the Phil
lippines.
Kumar just returned from India
where he spent time with Shri Shri
Anandamurti, a controversial and
mysterious Indian spiritual leader
who has been imprisoned by the
Indian government for the past six
years.
The life and yogic teachings
of Anandamurti will also be dis
cussed in the free talk sponsored
by the Ananda Marga Society.
