Econ historian Fischer
to speak in EMU today
Economic historian Wolfram Fischer will lecture at the University
Monday at 3 p.m. in the EMU. room to be posted.
Fischer director of the Institute for Economic and Social History at
the Free University of Berlin, will speak on The German Economy in
the 20th Century: Continuity and Change”
Fischer is teaching this term at Stanford University.
His talk is free and open to the public.
Poet sets appearances
Black American writer and poet N. Jerome Hall has scheduled two
campus appearances.
Hall will hold an informal forum Tusday at 1 p.m. in the EMU. to be
posted.
Thursday at 8 p.m. he will give a poetry reading and a lecture on
Black American expatnates in Europe The session will be in Room 167
of the EMU.
Hall s appearances at the University are sponsored by the Black
Student Union. There is no admission for either session.

Sculptress unveils latest video work
The EMU Cultural Forum pre
sents Lynda Bengiis, prominent
sculptress and video artist, who
will show her two most recent
video works, The Amazing
Bow-Wow and How s Tricks" in
room 167 EMU, 7:30 p.m.
Best known for her sculptured
works. Bengiis has exhibited in
Germany, Denmark, Australia.
This year she was included in the
“Recent Acquisitions" show at the
Guggenheim Museum. Familiar
pieces include her series of sculp
tural ‘‘Knots." She maintains a
studio in New York and is affiliated
with the Paula Cooper Gallery.
She also has a studio in California.
Although she is best recognized
for her sculptural achievements,
Benglis also works in video.
She has exhibited her video works
since 1972. They have been
shown throughout the U.S. and
Canada.
The presentation and lecture
are free to the public.
