Women’s symposium
filing deadline extended

the women’s symposium to be
held on campus in April, but
missed the Feb. 10 filing deadline,
you have a one-day reprieve.
Symposium coordinator,
Donna Shepard, says the
deadline for completing a form
indicating interest in workshops
has been extended to 5 p.m.
today. Forms should be turned in

Shepard said the symposium
currently seeks people who wish
to help with publicity and to serve
on committees to make posters
and programs. She said
volunteers are also needed to
help with fund-raising and finding
housing for symposium visitors.

‘The Big Dig’
The Jewish Student Union will
present an Israeli film, "The Big
Dig,” at 7:30 and 9:30 tonight in
177 Lawrence.
This is part of the first annual
Israeli Film Festival, a series of
award-winning feature-length
Israeli movies, shown this month
at the University. The film festival
provides the opportunity for
students to see Israeli films that
ordinarily would not be seen in the
United States.
Econ professor to discuss

“The New Gnomes:
Multinational Banks in the Third
World" will be discussed at 3:30
p.m. Tuesday in 238 Gilbert Hall
by Howard Wachtel, professor
and chairer of the department of
economics at American
University.
Wachtel is widely known for his
work in the fields of poverty,
income distribution, labor,,
socialist economic systems and
the new international economic
order. In addition to his numerous
publications, he has been a
Fellow of the Transnational
Institute and the Institute for Policy
Studies. He is currently writing a
book on the new international
economic order.
The public lecture is sponsored
by the University economics
department.
