Rust takes over board post
Commissioner Jerry Rust took
over the reins of the Lane County
Board of Commissioners Wed
nesday from fellow commissioner
Archie Weinstein.
The board chairer of the
three-member board is voted on
yearly at this time. The third com
missioner, Bob Wood, will also
serve a one-year term as vice
chairman of the board for 1978.
The commissioners also de
cided among themselves who
would assume various committee
and board assignments. Rust will
serve on the Metropolitan Waste
water Management Commission,
the Metropolitan Plan Policy
Committee of the Lane Council of
Governments, the Tri-Agency
Animal Control Authority Board,
the Dunes National Recreation
Advisory Council and the Bureau
of Lane Management Governing
Board.
Wood will sit on the Lane Coun
cil of Governments Board, the
Lane Regional Air Pollution Au
thority, the Eugene Area Chamber
of Commerce and the Alton Baker
Park Advisory Committee.
County Commissioner Jerry Rust became chairer of the Lane County
Board of Commissioners Wednesday, succeeding Archie Weinstein.
Rust will serve as head for a one-year term and commissioner Bob
Wood will serve as vice chairman during 1978.
Weinstein will represent the
commissioners on the City
County Joint Revenue Sharing
Committee, the Springfield Area
Chamber of Commerce, the
Committee on Aging, the Met
ropolitan Cable TV Commission,
the Lane County Community
Coordinated Child Care Council
and the Oregon Coastal Zone
Management Association.
The board decided either of the
other two commissioners could
serve as alternates when the ap
pointed member is unable to at
tend.
Israel program offered
Modem Israel will be the focus of a special academic summer
program sponsored by the State University of New York. The course in
Israel will consist of an interdisciplinary study of Israel’s economic,
social, political, religious, educational and scientific institutions.
College credit will be offered to participants who successfully com
plete the program.
Only a limited number of enrollees will be accepted, and early
application is recommended. For specific details about the 1978
