V he Olde Dexter Theatre (ODT) won't fix your
carburetor, but it will start a spark in your soul. Earlier
in the year, this theater in Dexter. Ore., faced a fate of
greasy wrenches and tire pumps. The seven
concerned persons took control by turning what
would have been a mechanic s garage into a centerfor
the wealth of talent in the Eugene area.
From the hilarity of vaudevillian humor to the
dignity of Tai Chi. a Chinese art of meditation and
movement, the entertainment is diverse, and the
emphasis is on artistic expression. People come to
the theater not only as onlookers, but as participants.
Whether this participation is by sharing a talent or by
enjoying the talents of others, the performer-audience
interaction is basic to ODT philosophy. Please turn to
