University Symphony performs for free tonight featuring student soloists The University Symphony, conducted by Lawrence Maves, will perform tonight at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall. The concert will feature student soloists who were selected by auditions held in Feb ruary. Soloists for the first half of the concert will be Kit Dodd, Doreen Hawkey, both vio lists, Jan Gault, flute, Robert Howard, clarinet, and Margaret Wells, flute. After in termission Gerald Farmer, clarinet, Peter Frajola, violin, and Beth Emmons, flute, will perform. Admission is free. Best of Broadway highlights Eugene Symphony pop concert KPNW, The Eugene Symphony and Goodwill Industries of Lane County are ‘get ting together for the fun of it' at a concert next Thursday at McArthur Court. The Pops Concert is featuring the Best of Broadway with music and songs from South Pacific, Oklahoma, Paint Your Wagon, My Fair Lady and more. Theodore Piute will be guest conductor. Myra Brand, Alan Kays and Neil Wilson will be the fea tured soloists. Special guest performers are KPNW's Lee Gordon and the University's Gregg Ballard. General admission tickets are $4; stu dents and senior, $3 and reserved seats, $6. Host tickets are $10 which entitle the purchaser to a reception and chance to meet the performers. The Eugene Symphony Association pro vides music appreciation and education through music workshops for students, mini concerts to hospitals and nursing homes and a healthy cultural climate for area resi dents. Free vocal recital tomorrow at LCC Christopher Ryan, baritone and Lane Community College instructor, will present a free recital in the college’s performing arts theatre tomorrow at noon. The recital will last about one hour. Accompanied by Virginia Hurwitz on piano, Ryan will sing a variety of songs in English, French, and German.
