The Library As a last resort, go hit the books --- --.—..... By JEAN DENT Of the Emerald There will inevitably come a time when solitude, peace and quiet will become a necessity in order to practice the ancient art of students known as “studying.” In order to fulfill this need, various libraries and re source centers can be found both on and off campus. In addition to providing an escape from jabbering roommates, blaring stereos, and ringing telephones, these areas con tain valuable and useful information for stu dents and nonstudents. The libraries on campus house over 1113 million volumes; the law library contains almost 95,000 and the other libraries store about 11/4 million. Many of the departmen tal libraries can be found in the main library on campus, which is located directly south of the Memorial Quad Courtyard (although the library may be easier to locate than the MQC). Their hours, beginning September 25, are as follows: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday 8a.m.-10p.m. Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday 2 p.m:-11 p.m. Other areas of the main library which may be of interest are: Reserve Book Room Hours: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-Midnight Friday 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m.-Midnight Douglas Listening Room Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 6:00-10:00 p.m. Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday 2 p.m.-10 p.m. Photo by P«rry Quki Graphic Arts Service Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., plus a few evenings during the week from 7-10 p.m. Closed weekends.
