Is this really ‘The city with the runs’?
Becoming a hit in Eugene is very simpie. All you have to do
is don a snazzy pair of sneakers and run around town. Eugene
prides itself with the nickname, "The city with the runs," and has
nearly 10,000 joggers to prove it.
Jogging routes are limitless, of course, since it’s an entirely
individual matter. However, Eugene does have a few standard
trails which are designed for various jogging levels.
The Initiator is perfect for beginners. It follows a very scenic
route via the Mill Race, the Willamette River, the footbridge,
Pre s Trail and Autzen Stadium. Only one-and-a-half miles.
The Blister Buster is £ hilly challenge to the intermediate
runner. It takes in both Alton Baker Park and Hendricks Park and
offers a nice view of the Willamette. Six miles.
The Iron Gut separates the joggers from the JOGGERS.
This grueling route is full of rugged terrain, but also includes
wilderness beauty. Ten miles—go for it.
