Aid offered for
Ireland study
Two hundred scholarships for
summer study to Ireland will be
offered to American students in
commemoration of the Bicenten
nial. The Council of International
Educational Exchange (CIEE)
will conduct the program open to
full-time students attending
American colleges and univer
sities between the ages of 18 and
30.
Each scholarship provides for £
four-week program in Ireland t(
focus on Irish and American link:
in the arts, politics and trade unior
movements. The scholarships d<
not provide for transportation t(

the recipients at $384 per person

dozen volumes of poetry.

Business school slates picnic
A picnic complete with tugs-of-war and water balloons is scheduled
for all business students and faculty at Hendricks Park from 3 to 7 p.m.
Sunday. This get-together event is sponsored as part of Business
Administration Day by the business school’s administration and or
ganized by Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity.
The purpose of “B.A. Day," according to David Murcer, an Alpha
Kappa Psi member, is to dose the gap between business students and
faculty. He says a few University administrators may also attend for the
students to meet person-to-person.
Two options are open for the picnickers: steak dinner for $3 or hot dog
dinner for $1. Tickets are on sale for the picnic until Wednesday. Alpha
Kappa Psi members are selling them at a booth in front of Gilbert Hall
every day from 9:30 a m. to 3:30 p.m.
TV show explores summer jobs
"Opportunities for Summer Employment for Youth" is the subject of
a half-hour television "Feedback" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Oregon
Education and Public Broadcasting System (OEPBS).
Originating live from the University, the program will feature host Vern
Mueller and guests Marshall Northington, director of Lane County
Youth and Children s Services; and Nancy Anderson and Irene Grace,
director and assistant director, respectively, of the Summer Youth Em
ployment Program of Lane County Youth and Children's Services.
The program offers the opportunity for viewers to telephone their
questions and concerns diredly to guest panelists.
“Feedback" is a weekly OEPBS series It is broadcast on PL-3 in
Eugene; KOAP, Portland; and KOAC, Corvallis
Viola da gamba concert set
A program of rarely heard works for viola da gamba will be pre
sented by the Pacific Viol Consort on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Beall
Concert Hall of the University School of Music
The concert will feature English consort music and French Baroque
works for viols and harpsichord by Marais, Couperin and Morel.
The large repertoire of Renaissance and Baroque music for the
viol, much of which cannot be performed on any other instrument, has
been revived only in recent years.
The concert, the last of the University Chamber Music Series for
the 1975-76 academic year, is free to season ticket holders. General
admission is $3; students and senior citizens. $1.50. Tickets are availa
ble at the door.
Exec to address businessmen
Some 400 business executives in the Portland area have been
invited to hear Thomas Bdger, executive vice-president of AT and T.
discuss "Business, Government Regulation and the Public Interest"
Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the University Club in Portland.
Bolger's appearance is part qf a distinguished speaker series spon
sored by the College of Business Administration
He is the former president of Pacific Northwest Bell in Oregon and a
former Portland resident.
