Delegate registration ends today
Registration for state delegates to the Mock Democratic Conven
tion will close at 4 p.m. today. Interested students should register at the
political science office, 936 PLC.
Over 740 persons have already signed up as delegates for the
Political Science Student Union (PSSU)-sponsored convention, ac
cording to Mike Schaeffer, director of the program. A total of 1,000
students are needed to participate in the event, scheduled for May
13-14 in McArthur Court.
Students wishing to participate in the convention as special in
terests delegates have until Friday at 5 p.m. to sign up. Schaefer said.
Deadline for scholarships near
Nominations for three outstanding junior student awards will be
accepted through Thursday at the Office of Student Services.
Among the two open available to men is the Koyf Cup, awarded to
the junior man showing the best all-around progress in areas of leader
ship, service, and academic achievement. The Maurice Harold Hunter
Leadership Scholarship, covering kill tuition, is given annually to a state
I resident junior man making the most notable contribution through his
achievements and good example toward the development of leadership
qualities among renew sruoenis.
Available to junior women is the Gertinger Cup awarded on the
basis of achievements in the areas of scholarship, leadership, and
service to the University.
The awards are of such a stature as to merit thorough considera
tion of all possible candidates and a student may nominate himself

Teacher education professor dies
Paul Kambly, a University emeritus professor of education, died
Monday morning in Eugene. He was 67 years old.
Kambly retired from 27 years of service to the University m June of
1973. He was known as "Mr. Teacher Education" at tie University for
his years of service to the field.
He was born May 14,1908 in Cissna Park, III. He spent most of his
years at Oregon building the teacher education division of the College of
Education.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the
Amencan Cancer Society.
