dance and entertainment in honor
of the nation’s bicentennial.
Entertainment will range from
early Americana to modem rock.
Performers will include a Dixie
land band, the University Jazz
Choir and pianist Jerry Blodgett,
who will perform some of
Gershwin's works.
Live and recorded music will
help recapture the sounds of the
past. Square dancing steps will be
taught and a ‘‘Limbo" dance con
test is planned.
Refreshments will be provided.
Tickets are $1.50 in advance
from the music school office and
$2 at the door. Proceeds will help
finance future MGG projects.

Folk concert
set tonight
The Native American Student
Union at the University will stage a
variety show and folk concert to
night at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert
Hall. The show will feature both
small group and individual per
formers, according to Dennis De
Gross, the group's advisor.
Among the performers will be
the Toelken Family, a local folk
music performing group featuring
Barre Toelken, professor of En
glish; banjo player Rusty Oelheim,
who will sing and play some of his
own ballads; Jill Hodgen, playing
a musical saw; Twilo Scofield on
the psaltery, a stringed instrument
similar to a zither; and Herbie
Cawthorne, reading the poetry of
Langston Hughes.
George Wasson, a member of
the Coos Indian Tribe, will be the
master of ceremonies.
Tickets for the concert are now
on sale at the EMU main desk and
at the Chrystal Ship in downtown
Eugene. Admission is $2 for Uni
versity students and $3 for the
general public. Tickets also will be
on sale at the door.
All proceeds from the event will
go to the Native American Legal
Defense Fund.
Fauna inhabit
museum spot
Alfred C. Shelton’s zoological
collections are currently featured
in an exhibit at the University
Museum of Natural History.
Shelton's collection will be dis
played daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. and will be open for viewing
weekends from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Admission is free and the pubic is
invited to visit.
