lecture today
Newbold Noyes, former editor
and part-owner of The
Washington Star, will be the
inaugural speaker in a new series
of annual lectures to be launched
next month at the University
School of Journalism.
Noyes will deliver a public
address today in the EMU
Ballroom, after spending several
days at the journalism school in
informal meetings with students
and faculty members.
He will be the first speaker in a
series endowed to the School by
Mrs. Robert Ruhl of Medford,
widow of the long-time editor of
the Medford Mail-Tribune. Mrs.
Ruhl’s gifts to the School make
possible the establishment of the
annual Ruhl Symposium in
Journalism, which will involve
the visiting lecturer and also the
appointment of two Ruhl
Fellows.
