Alan Cranston, D-Calif., told the Senate, ‘The present situation in Korea is an unthinking tripwire under which the U.S. could be drawn into immediate combat — without time for reflec tion, consideration or reason — in the event of an invasion of South Korea.” But Sen. Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz., said South Korea was an outstanding example of the need for U.S. ground combat troops in the nuclear age. ERA quashed again JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The state Senate voted 20-14 Monday against ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, the third year in a row the proposed constitu tional amendment has been killed in Missouri. Suspects sent home WASHINGTON - Cuba has quietly sent three American citi zens to Barbados and into FBI hands on aircraft hijacking charges, toe State Department said Monday. The three were toe first alleged hijackers to be sent home by Cuba since it signed an agreement with toe United States more than two years ago either to hold persons who forced airliners to carry them to Cuba or return them to toe Un ited States to stand trial.
