Enterprise to streak
around galaxies again
(CPS) — Thanks to a massive tetter campaign last December,
producer Gene Roddenberry has announced that Paramount Studios
has agreed to produce a feature-length “Star Trek" film for commercial
distribution in 1976. . .
Roddenberry also announced that there are negotiations under
way to produce several "Star Trek" specials for TV. Both the movie and
the specials will star the original cast.
Statewide student lobby to hire
full-time lobbying co-ordinator
The Associated Oregon Student Lobby, a newly formed state-wide
student lobbying organization is currently considering hiring a non
lobbying co-ordinator. The person would be expected to work a 40-hour
week and be responsible to a board of directors consisting of the AOSL
members' student body presidents.
The director will oo-ordinate the activites of both paid and volunteer
student lobbyists, conduct preliminary research, arrange meetings,
prepare and monitor the budget, act as the representative of the lobby to
member schools budgeting bodies, monitor legislative and State Board
of Higher Education issues and evaluate the performance of student
lobbyists.

ent on the 1975-76 budget for the AOSL.
Kirby Garrett, formerly the co-ordinator of the University of
Oreqon student lobby has been selected by the board as the interim
co-orainatorind will remain as coordinator until a permanent director is

Legislation workshop
deals with elderly concerns
State Representatives Nancie Fadeley and Ralph Greener, and
State Senator George Wingard will speak at a legislative workshop
Saturday dealing with legislation concerned with the well-being of the
ekjer|v
The workshop, sponsored by U of O Gerontology Association, will
take place on campus, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in the Gerlinger
Hall Alumni Lounge. In addition to the legislators, experts from the
community will speak. _
The focus of the workshop will be on four bills now pending in the
state legislature. They include a social security reform bill, a bill for
tighter Sontrol of the fitting and sale of heanng atds, a proposal for
alternative care for the elderly, and a proposal for new types ot sanc
tions on nursing homes which violate state regulations.
Program chairman David Claussemus said that the workshop ot
ters a good chance for students to meet the three legislators, voice their
opinions on the issues being discussed and to hear where the legis
lators stand. The workshop is open to the general public..
