Fantasy Symposium begins today in EMU
The Cultural Forum will sponsor a five-day symposium dealing
with Fantasy , hoginning today. Included will be science fiction, the
supernatural, magic, mysticism, animation, and psycho-sexual
fantasy.
The symposium will open with an address and film excerpts by
Harlan Ellison, honored writer of fantasy, at 8 p.m. in the EMU
Ballroom Ellison has written TV scripts for Star Trek and The Outer
Limits. There is no charge.
Soul of Japan Dance Company to appear
The Soul of Japan Modem Dance Company, a troupe of six dan
cers. will appear in two concerts at the University of Oregon Nov. 7
and 8.
On their first North American tour, the dancers will perform
selections from their repertoire of modem dance. Many of the dances
are original material choreographed by members of the company.
Among those they will perform are “Hiree Faces of Chieko,” “The
Neighbor,” and “Goodluck Grandma.”
The concerts will be given at 8 p.m. each night in Studio Theatre
353 in Gerlinger Annex.
Admission to the concerts is free, but tickets will be required.
These will be available Nov. 1 at the Womens’ Physical Education
office in Gerlinger Annex. Tickets must be picked up in advance.
‘Watergate panel’ to discuss impeachment
The possibilities and consequences of impeaching President Nixon
will be the subject of a panel discussion presented by the Political
Science Student Union (PSSU) at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the EMU.
The PSSU “Watergate Panel” will consist of four members:
Irving Brant, author of “Impeachment: Trials and Error;” J. R.
Klonoski. professor of political science and chairman of the Lane
County Democratic Committee; Earl Pomeroy, professor for the
University’s Presidential Powers course; and Herb Titus,
professor of law and former trial attorney for the U.S. Department of
Justice.
Superintendent of schools to visit campus
State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dale Parnell will be on
the University of Oregon campus October 31 through November 2, to
meet with faculty and students.
Parnell ’s visit launches the “Executive-in-Residence” program of
the University’s newly-formed Center for Educational Policy and
Management (CEPM).
The new program will bring professional men and women in 'ne
field erf educational administration to the Oregon campus to allow
them to familiarize themselves with the students, faculty and
programs in educational policy and management at the UO.
Parnell is scheduled to take part in six classes during his stay at
the U of O, in addition to several office hours sessions, when he will
meet individually with students and faculty.
Clark to speak on education panel
University President Robert D. dark will be a panel member of
the 1973 Citizens' Forum on Post-Secondary Education sponsored by
Colleges for Oregon’s Future, and co-sponsored by some 30 other state
organizations.
The theme of the forum, on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the Portland
Hilton Hotel, is “Price Tag: Post-Secondary Education ” The panel on
which President Clark will serve will discuss “Cost-Benefit Rations:
Post-Secondary Education.” at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1.

The position of Recruitment Coordinator with ESCAPE is open.
This is a salaried position and requires some administrative and

ROTC seniors score high in military skills
Senior cadets in the University of Oregon’s Army Reserve Of
ficers Training Corps (ROTC) program scored the highest record in
abilities of cadets from 41 institutions from the 15 western states at the
six-week ROTC Advanced Camp at Fort Lewis, Wash, this summer.
Cadets were measured and compared in ten areas designed to
determine their military knowledge, leadership ability, and
managerial skills.
The University of Oregon cadets placed first in five areas, third in
two areas, and scored above the camp average in all but one. Their
aggregate score put the U of O cadets in first place over the other 40
schools.

Trades Council supports Nixon impeachment
The delegates of the Eugene area Building and Construction
Trades Council went on record Monday morning, October 22, 1873
unanimously supporting the resolution to impeach President Richard
M. Nixon.
The Building Trades Council would like to be a co-sponsor of this
necessary resolution if at all possible.
