| On Campus
Friday last day to drop classes
Friday, July 27 is the last day to drop a course which is 8 or 11
weeks in duration. It is also the last day for grade option and credit
changes for regular session courses.
Course change forms may be obtained in the Office of the
Registrar from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A
$1.00 fee is assessed for each transaction.
Foreign student orientation planned
All students interested in participating in foreign student orien
tation this fall are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in the
lounge of Dunn-Hamilton dormitory.
Students who are interested but unable to attend the meeting
should call the International Education Center at ext. 3721.
Fund re-instituted to fill student need
A contingency fund, maintained some years ago by Dean of
Students Donald DuShane to meet emergency needs of University
students, has been revived by the University Development Fund.
The fund was maintained through monies from the Inter
fraternity Council and Pan-Hellenic rushing fees. It has been inactive
since 1971 when DuShane retired to become Emeritus Dean of
Students.

Fairgrounds pedestrian-bicycle path opens
The official opening of the Fairgrounds Pedestrian-Bicycle Path
will begin at noon Thursday, July 26 with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Mayor Les Anderson will preside over the ceremony at the end of the
path near the Jefferson Memorial Pool parking lot.
The Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Bicycling and participants in
the Eugene Parks and Recreation summer playground program will
take a test ride on the path which is eight-tenths of a mile long. The
playground riders will make the 1.6 mile round trip and finish with a
free swim at Jefferson Memorial Pool.
The 10-foot wide asphalt runs from Jefferson St. at 15th Ave. along
the Amazon Slough and Lane County Fairgrounds to Chambers St. The
path will serve as an east-west connector to the University of Oregon
area and as an alternate to 18th Ave. and 13th Ave. routes. The path
will also serve the schools in the area, Jefferson Memorial Pool and
will eventually be extended to the student housing area on Garfield.
Lane Demo central committee meets
The Lane County Democratic Party will hold its bimonthly central
committee meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July26, in the
basement of Harris Hall. Discussion will focus on the coordinator’s
position, the Labor Day picnic, and party activity at the county fair,
August 14-19. All precinct men and women are urged to attend. Other
Lane County Democrats are also invited.
