Correction: Brownridge won
The Emerald incorrectly reported on Page 1 in Wednesday’s
paper that Dennis Brownridge was disqualified from the WRA Slow
Bike Race. Brownridge in fact won.
Gay rights bill supported
The Eugene Gay Peoples Alliance is distributing material in
support of Senate Bill 2930, the gay rights bill, on the EMU terrace
today. Bill 2930 would prohibit discrimination in employment or
housing on the basis of sexual orientation. For further information

Friday last day to drop classes
The Registrar’s office reminds students that Friday is the last day
to drop a course and also to make credit changes. Drop-Add forms
may be obtained at the Office of the Registrar from 10 a m. to 12 noon
and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A department stamp is required for each
drop or credit change. A $1.00 charge is made for each transaction.
Picnic set for foreign students, friends
All married foreign students and faculty and their families and
American friends are invited to a picnic on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at
the 1st Congregational Church, 24th and Harris. The picnic is spon
sored by the International Friends unit of the Foreign Student
Friendship Foundation.
Each family is asked to bring a picnic lunch. Hot and cold drinks
will be furnished but families should bring their own plates and cups or
glasses. Games are planned for children and adults with small prizes

Muslim to deliver public lecture
A free public lecture on “The Revolutionary Nature of Islam” will
be delivered today at the.University. Mwaiemu Abdolhamid Akoni,
director of the Black Study Center at the University of California at
Santa Barbara, will speak at noon in the EMU. The room number will
be posted in the main lobby. His appearance at the University is
sponsored by the Muslim Students Association
Personality in residence named
Captain Thomas Johnson will be a “personality in residence” in
University dormitories today through Saturday.
Capt. Johnson of the U.S. Air Force, is assistant professor of
aerospace studies at San Jose State College, California.
During his visit on the campus, he and Mrs. Johnson will live in the
dormitories, eat meals with students, and meet informally with
students. He will also be the University’s guest speaker at the Air
Force ROTC for their Dining Out awards dinner Saturday. The dinner
will be held at The Colonial Inn.
Geology lecture scheduled
The University Geology Department is presenting William Holser
who will speak on “Isotopes in marine sulfates and the history of the
ocean and atmosphere.” The talk is scheduled for 1:30 today in Room
307, Volcanology.
Jazz musician schedules two shows
Tickets are on sale at the University this week for two shows by
jazz musician Les McCann on Sunday on the Oregon campus. The
tickets are available at the main desk of the EMU. The price is $2.50
per ticket. The Les McCann jazz sessions are set for 6:30 and 9 p.m.,
Sunday, in the EMU Ballroom. The shows are sponsored by the Black
Student Union.

Plans for ‘Indochina Weekend’ continue
Medical Aid for Indochina wiU meet tonight to complete plans for
the Medical Aid for Indochina W eekend, and to divide publicity and
other responsibilities. A weekend of special emphasis on Indochina
will happen May 18,19 and 20, with a Bach Mai Benefit Poetry Reading
as the main event. * ■
Other activities will include slide presentations, guerrilla theater,
music and speakers, both on campus and in the community All in
terested persons are encouraged to attend the 8 p.m. planning session
at the Eugene Peace Center, 119 East 10th, or to contact Marion
