MEETINGS
Once again this spring the Center for
Environmental Research and the depart
ment of architecture are sponsoring a
colloquium on research work that is on going
in the department of architecture. This
spring the colloquium series will be held on
Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 in 283
Lawrence Hall. The objective of these
colloquia is to share with the rest of the
department and University community
some of the work faculty are currently
engaging. The atmosphere is intended to be
informal and discussion Is encouraged.
The subject for Wednesday's colloquium
will be G.F Andrews, professor of ar
chitecture, "Maya Cities and Maya Ar
chitecture. Placemaking. Urbanization.
Building forms and Functions."

BSU positions deadline Wednesday
All members of the Black Student Union interested in running for
BSU President, Administrative Assistant or Head Secretary must file
in the BSU office by Wednesday. Elections will be held all day Friday
in the BSU office, 313 EMU. , „ . _
Candidates filed Monday afternoon included Carl Stafford for
President; Hilda Bennett for Administrative Assistant; and Evon Orr
for Head Secretary, according to LeFrancis Arnold, BSU President.
All other positions are work study positions and will not be filled until
next fall. „ . .
The BSU is also interested in getting together an intramural
baseball team. All interested BSU members, men and women, should
contact the BSU today.

Coed AD topic for informal debate
Should the women and men form one coeducational athletic
department? That’s the question to be discussed in an informal debate
Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the EMU (room to be posted).
Two women athletes will be debating the subject: Jane Aiken, who
has proposed to the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee that a coed
Athletic Department be organized, and gail Hoffnagle, a senior in
physical education who is also active in women’s sports.
Purpose of the debate is to expose the various paints of view on the
subject including whether athletic scholarships should be offered to
women. Both men and women are encouraged to attend.
Abortion discussion set for tonight
All women are invited to come and participate in a discussion on
abortion at 8 p.m. tonight at 1414 Kincaid. There will be women’s
lunches every Thursday in the EMU from 11:30 to 1:30, room to be
posted.
ROTC application deadline April 15
The deadline for applications for the Army Reserve Officers’
Training Corps two-year program is April 15. Interested students
should contact the Professor of Military Science as soon as practical.
The program is open to University undergraduates who as of next
fall, will have at least two academic years before receiving their
baccalaureate. The program is also open to graduate students with
two years remaining in their program of study. Opportunities to apply
for full scholarships are available.
Meditation lecturer slated
Peter Muldavin, the Northwest Regional lecturer for Students
International Meditation Society has returned to Eugene to present
Introductory lectures on Transcendental Meditation April 10 and 12, 8
p.m., rm. 221 Allen Hall.
Muldavin is a graduate of UC Berkeley, and became a teacher of
Transcendental Medition in I960 at a teacher training course in
India with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Since then he has been teaching
throughout the U.S. and was a member of the Maharishi International
University staff during the 71-72 school year.
Designer to present lecture
Jack Wilkinson, bead of Louisiana State University Art Depart
ment, will present a lecture entitled “Signs and Symbols Representing
an Orientation Originating from a Design Process” at 2:30 p.m. today
in 107 Lawrence. Wilkinson, former head of the University Depart
ment of Fine and Applied Arts for twenty-five years, is the designer of
the mural on the south side of Lawrence Hall.
France study presentation set
Students interested in the Oregon Study Program in Poitiers,
France, are invited to attend a slide presentation and discussion by
University students who participated in the program last year. The
presentation will be held at 7 p.m. today in 204 Chapman Hall The
discussion will be informal, with questions welcomed. Also present
will be the new Resident Director of the program for 1073-74, Louis

Third part of AEC film runs tonight
The third part of the Atomic Energy Commission film “The SL 1
Accident Phases” about the January 3, 1961 nuclear reactor testing
station accident in Idaho will be shown at 8 p.m. tonight in Studio C,
Audio Visual. The first two parts were shown during finals week of last
term.
Phase three of the film concerns what caused the accident, a
simultation of the accident and what was done following it in the areas
of reactor recovery, demolition of the building and decontamination of
the area.
