    Poet Morton Marcus
to read at EMU
Santa Cruz poet Morton Marcus will read his own poetry at 4
p.m. today at the Erb Memorial Union.
Marcus is the author of four books of poetry - “Origins”,
published in 1969; “The Santa Cruz Mountain Poems”, published
in 1972; “Where the Oceans Cover Us”, 1972; and a new book,
“Toward Certain Divorce.”
He has poetry in 23 anthologies, including “Where Is
Vietnam?”, “New Voices”, and “The Best Young Poets”.
His work has appeared in a number of leading magazines,
including Poetry Northwest, Mademoiselle, Massachusetts
Review, Kayak, and Apoch.
Marcus is presently a professor of English at the University
of California at Santa Cruz.
His appearance at the University is sponsored by the Master
of Fine Arts program of the English department.

Campus Radical Union to meet
The Campus Radical Union will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the
EMU. The room will be posted.
Their discussion will center on students who are against the war, the
‘giant corporations running your lives,’ and ‘the male-dominated
society.’ the meeting will also concern the development of a more
equal society.
Correction
The dates set for the ASUO Winter Term Primary Election were
incorrect in Monday’s Emerald senate story which listed them as Feb.
4-5. The correct dates for the primary are Feb. 14-15. The general
election will follow on Feb. 21-22.
Environment,architecture tobe discussed
The Center for Environmental Research is sponsoring a
colloquium on research work that is ongoing in the School of Ar
chitecture and other related fields at the University.
The objective of these informal meetings is to share interest and
experiences with other faculty members and students.
They are held on Wednesdays at 12:30 -1:30 p.m. in LA 283.
Wednesday, David Sandahl, visiting assistant professor in Ar
chitecture, will discuss his research on the “Influence of Role
Enactments in Man-Environment Relations.” Everyone is welcome
Organ recitals set for School of Music
Noonday Organ Recitals continue winter quarter at the School of
Music. Today’s performance features Jon Waite playing ‘‘Combat of
Life and Death” from Les Corps Glorieux (1942) by Oliver Messiaen
(b. 1908).
In addition, Exine Bailey, University voice teacher, will sing a
collection of six sacred songs entitled Ivory Tower by contemporary
Flemish composer FI or Peelers.

High rise building is subject of hearing
The Eugene Eugene Renewal Agency will bald a public hearing
Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the city council chambers to discuss a proposal
for a high-rise office building to be built at the corner of 10th and Oak
streets.
The building, planned by San Francisco developer Louis Walker,
would be used for office space.
City statutes amendment to be heard
A public hearing on whether city statutes on discrimination be
amended to include sexual orientation will be held tonight at 7:30 in
the city council chambers.
The hearing, sponsored by Eugene’s Human Rights Commission,
will concern the proposal put forth by the Eugene Gay People’s
Alliance and the Eugene Gay Women
