“The World Future Society is a
world wide group interested in
long range planning, alternate
futures, and in general what is
happening in the world,” said
Owens. But it doesn’t end there.
The WFS is concerned with
“trying to determine the future
rather than having it determined
by circumstances beyond our
control. We’d like to make a
liveable world rather than a world
of only existence.”
Owens feels that the recently
formed Oregon Trail chapter,
based in Portland, isn’t enough.
“We know there is a lot of interest
locally and so we feel that there is
a need for a satellite chapter. My
purpose to start with is to get
people together who are in
terested, to interchange ideas
and to hear presentations from
people concerning long range
planning.”
Once acquainted with the
problems he hopes that
something can be done.
“Hopefully we can take action
politically or whatever is
necessary.”
The meeting will be held at 8
p.m. tonight. Owens’ home is
located at 2262 East 15th. Anyone
can attend.
