Alone for Thanksgiving? Join us at the
Newman Center for Thanksgiving Dinner.
Serving starts at 2 00 p.m. on Thanksgiving
Day, Nov 23. To help us prepare, call x44A8,
and let us know if you are coming.
Today's "Noonday Organ Recital"
features Barry Turley in a two part per
formance of an organ mass by Johann
Sebastian Bach. Unique among com
positions by 18th century composers, Turley
will present the Prelude in E flat, the Kyrie
Christo Kyrie. and the Gloria. Next week's
program will include the rest of the mass.
Concluding today's program is a token
Thanksgiving piece written at the turn of the
century by Sigfrid Karg Elert. A bit "camp"
by today's standards, the performance of
this chorale prelude on "Now Thank We All
Our God" should serve as a fitting prelude to
the coming long weekend vacation.
Joanna Richner, thrice featured on
Noonday Organ Recital," will perform her
Master's Recital tonight featuring works of
J S Bach, Andre Raison, Felix Mendelssohn
and Olivier Messiaen
♦
