Of the Emerald
The Women’s Recreation Association (WRA) is open to all
women on campus. It provides an excellent opportunity in
both the recreational and competitive areas and is con
structed to provide women with a variety of physical ac
tivities.
The recreational aspect of WRA falls into five areas: in
tramurals, interest groups, special single events, mini
courses, and open recreation.
Programs on tap for Fall term include volleyball in
tramurals, including co-ed activity; flag football in
tramurals: martial arts interest group, and open recreation
Monday, through Thursday evenings and Saturday and
Sunday.
Information on WRA activities is listed on the WRA
bulletin board in Gerlinger Hall’s locker room, in the
Emerald, and in the WRA Newsletter, which is published two
or three times each term. The newsletter is mailed to WRA
dorm, sorority house, and co-op representatives. Entry
blanks can be picked up in 171 Gerlinger.
Intercollegiate sports under WRA provides ten teams and
clubs, which compete with other collegiate women’s teams
both in and out of state.
Practice begins this term for the Amphibians, a syn
chronized swim team; bowling, swimming, field hockey,
gymnastics, track and field, and volleyball. Basketball
comes winter term and in the spring softball and tennis
begins.
For more information on Fall term programs a special Co
ed and Women's Intramural Information booth will be set up
in the Gerlinger Annex Hall (Continued on Page 23)
