Editorial cartooning is an old art. And
with the thousands of artists around the
world who are into cartooning, it is hard to
find any that stand above the rest.
The Emerald carries two such car
toonists—one national and one local.
Jim Redden is a local artist that not only
takes a close look at what is going on here
in Eugene but also around the country.
Redden’s cartoons are right on the mark
and never fail to bring comment.
Pat Oliphant is a strange man who gets
his ideas for his cartoons while flying high
over Denver in his stunt plane. Apparently
the thin air is good for him because he is a
Pulitzer prize winner. Two great car
toonists—in the Emerald.
