Lane needs
volunteers
Lane County agencies need
volunteers in the following areas
this summer:
A Big Sister who has her own
horse is needed for a thirteen
year-old Little Sister, who will
help care for the horse and have a
chance to ride.
A coordinator who relates well
to people is needed for Wed
nesday or Thursday afternoons
after 4:30 p.m., to pick up and
deliver groceries in the agency’s
truck.
An exercise leader is needed to
help adults of limited ability one
morning a week for about two
hours.
Arts and crafts coordinators
are needed in Eugene,
Springfield and surrounding
areas to organize arts and crafts
programs on a regular basis.
Local people would carry on the
programs. The coordinator would
organize and assist when needed.
A research assistant is needed
for a special program to tabulate
data and evaluate programs.
Friends for handicapped
persons are needed who can
relate to and understand the
handicapped person.
Projectionists to show movies
to home residents are needed,
preferably on Tuesday evenings.
There is also a Retired Senior
Volunteer program for persons
over sixty. Call 343-2116.
Volunteer opportunities are
open to anyone interested. For

day through Friday from 9 a m.
to 4 p.m.

Ecology class to be offered July 17
A new class at the University, Development of Ecology Clubs and
Programs (Cl 408G), will be offered beginning July 17.
The three credit ecology seminar involves discussion, reading,
guest speakers and action in the field. In conjunction with the class, a
Cl 509 Practicum and a Cl 505 Reading and Conference class are being
offered.
The class is open to both undergraduates and graduates, and
meets Monday through Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in 142 Science. The first
class meets July 17. Registration, however, is possible after that date.
The TLN of the class is 8753. More information will be offered at the
first meeting.
Commencement programs available
Additional copies of the University’s June commencement
program will be available the first week in August in the Office of
University Relations and the registrar’s office.
The second printing of the program contains the official degree
list. A larger number will be published in order to handle requests of
persons who didn’t receive a copy during the June 11 ceremony
Requests may be made by writing the Office of University
Relations. 154 Susan Campbell Hall (telephone 686-3021) or by con
tacting the registrar’s office in Emerald Hall.
Grad students must file to re-enroll
All Graduate School students returning Fall term 1972 must file an
“Intent to Re-enroll” form with the Graduate School. Forms are
available at the major department or at the Graduate School.
The deadline is July 15.
Post-baccalaureate students must obtain their special form from
the Graduate School only.
EMU construction bids open tonight
Construction bids on the $3.4 million EMU addition will open
tonight at 8 in EMU 101.
Amazon tenants meet with Bogen today
Amazon Cooperating Tenants (ACT) will meet today with Gerald
Bogen, University vice-president for student services, to discuss a
proposed rent increase for the Amazon housing unit. The meeting
beginsat 10:30a.m. in the Chapman Hall conference room.
Counseling workshop meets next week
Self-defeating behaviors will be discussed in a workshop at the
University July 19-Aug. 2. Small groups will meet for ten hours to work
on elimination of self defeating behaviors, which are defined as
psychological experiences and information which a person has not
been able to successfully integrate into his personality. Some
examples are inferiority feelings, overweight, perfectionism,
alcoholism, depression, insomnia, smoking and extreme nervousness,
This is a workshop as set up, structured and copyrighted by Milton
R. Cudney, Ph. S. It will meet Monday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to
8:40 p.m A fee of $7.50 has been set.
